Designing a logo for a home supporting people with mental disabilities required a completely different mindset. This wasn’t an energy drink, a tech startup, or a chocolate bar—this was the visual identity of a place where people lived, received care, and felt safe. Every direction I explored felt inadequate, detached, or simply wrong.

So I chose a different approach: I stepped aside and let the residents become the designers. I created a blank logo template of the castle in watercolour, printed it on A4 sheets, and sent them to the institution. With help from the staff during one of their outdoor activity days, the residents filled them in, each expressing their own personality, mood, and perspective on the 18th-century Czech castle they call home. The final visual identity emerged from 10 of their drawings. Authentic, human, and rooted in the spirit of the place itself.

The typface I picked for the identity is EasyReading.

It's a hybrid font – with both serif and sans-serif letters. The specific design of the letters with dedicated serif, useful in avoiding mistaking letters with similar form, has led to wider calibrated spacing that counteracts the perceived crowding effect, thus facilitating reading.

A wide set of illustrations were prepared by Tomáš Zach to help the patients understand complex information in a pictorial way.
